Daryl Hall & John Oates / Daryl Hall & John Oates (1975)

RCA移籍後初アルバム、通称「シルバー・アルバム」。
メイクアップ・アーティストで、David Bowie の Ziggy Stardust を作った Pierre LaRoche がデザインしたジャケットに、女装？の2人の姿が強烈な印象を残します。

内容は充実の一言。
1曲目 "Camellia" 〜2曲目 "Sara Smile" 〜3曲目 "Alone Too Long" とたたみかけますが、その後に続く曲は全部素晴らしい。70年代らしい、小気味よい演奏がサウンドを締めます。

"Sara Smile" のイントロのギターもいいですが、"Nothing at All" のイントロのギターも好きです。
"Gino (The Manager)" は後の Hall & Oates を思わせるポップ。"Grounds for Separation" は映画 "Rocky" に使われることになっていたそう。
オリジナルに加えて、リマスター版では "What's Important to Me" と "Ice" がついていますが、これまたどちらもいい曲です。

Hall & Oates は、このRCA1枚目と2枚目あたりがベストなんじゃないかと思います。

それにしても、最近の僕のプレイリストは、70年代ばっかしになっちゃってます。大丈夫かな？
